I thought I would send you two a little testimony in my transformation from attending Boot Camp. My husband, Larry, went to your class at the end of 2005. At that time I was 5 months post pregnancy and enjoying the joys of being a first time mom. I have always enjoyed working out; however, stopped when I got pregnant because I was afraid of miscarrying (BAD IDEA, I now know looking back). Well, 45 pounds later I had a little miracle in my hands but so much excess weight I didn't have enough energy to do anything. I lost about 20 while I breast fed, but then I hit a brick wall. I was a size 12-14, 180 pounds (I'm 5'8") and thought this was going to be my new body after baby. After I noticed how energized my husband became after your work outs I decided to sign up for the Jan. 06 class. My husband was super supportive in helping getting our son up in the morning so I could go and workout before the sun came up. I walk in for my first class in January and I'm paired up with a VERY energetic, Stevi, "my new battle buddy" (I think that was a little sign from God in telling me what was to come). I kept thinking "what have I gotten myself into". I felt nauseous after each workout that week because my body was in some serious shock. It is now August (8 months later) and I can officially say that I'm addicted to Boot Camp. I've lost 30 pounds, I'm now 150 pounds (that is 6 pounds LIGHTER than before I got pregnant) and a size 6-8. WOW!!!! My body is STILL changing and I'm loving every minute of it. I have NEVER felt this strong (mentally, emotionally, physically) in my life. I truly believe because of Boot Camp I have become a better mom, wife and friend. Speaking of friends, I've made some amazing friends thru the class that are super supportive. We encourage each other and lean on each other during the classes. Thank you both for being such amazing role models on how you should live your life. We only have a short time here and I want to keep my Temple as healthy as possible. I cannot thank you enough!!!! I've attached some pictures from Dec. 06 to now so you can see the transformation. I was looking at these pics tonight and I'm in complete shock of the transformation my body. I'm usually a camera hog but it was really hard for me to find a picture of myself after the birth of my son, Harrison. That tells you right there how I as feeling about myself. The other picture is from last weekend....our vacation to Los Cabos. Just excuse the Mai Tai in my hand....in fact, I think I was sweating Mai Tai's in your Wednesday morning workout, Lin. I also attached a picture of my little miracle (Harrison)...Praise the Lord! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Love, Wendi
Hi! I will be attending the Dallas location sessions. My first one will be sometime this week, probably Wed, Thur, or Fri. Looking forward to it!
I completed the Dallas Boot Camp Blast last week, and thought it was AMAZING! I have never seen results as quickly as I did in those few short days. I was ridiculously sore (seriously, it was difficult to lift my legs to put pants on!), but I swear my butt is 2 inches higher this week, so it was worth it! Kudos to the guy instructor (not sure of his name) - I thought he did an awesome job! I loved the little bits of self defense he incorporated at the end of class, and really enjoyed the kickboxing session! He was a great motivator as well.
Thanks Gwen Blevens
I just wanted to let you and Jay know that diet REALLY works! I thought that I was eating well before but I guess I really wasn't. I've been on this diet going on 3 days today and I've lost a total of 2 pounds. I know that that's not really a lot but me it really is. Before I started the boot camp back in Nov, I was running 20 miles each week (from Jan to Oct) and lost no weight. I was really frustrated and after I joined boot camp, I've lost a total of 12 pounds. It was a combination of BC and the diet. I just wanted to say THANKS! My pants are falling off me. I'm so excited!!!! Have a great day! Sophia
I had planned on sending an email after the Colts dance squad tryouts, just so I could have that added bonus of saying "I made it!", but here goes: These workouts have done so much for me- and not just physically. There definitely is a physical difference. I'm more tone, more shapely. My boyfriend comments daily on how great I look. Now keep in mind, before I started working out, I was a size 0 to 3, I weighed 105 pounds so I’ve always been little, now I’m fit. In addition to the physical change, I feel better inside. I'm happier, I have more energy, I’m showing my kids how maintaining a regular exercise program can be healthy for your body and mind. I definitely enjoy doing the workouts! Ok, in all honesty, there are times I grumble, but it's like you guys say all throughout them: I can rest when I’m dead and keep my eye on the goal! I have recommended the workouts to everyone I know. For the people who are intimidated, it's something you just have to dive in and do. I was intimidated at first because I watched the Cowgirls show on TV, and thought "Not me" and who knew what a running mountain climber was? But I wanted something bad enough to just jump in there and shoot for it.

“I started attending Boot Camp Fitness in May 2002. I have noticed drastic improvements month after month. This class is about feeling good about yourself, having more energy to get through the day, improving your self-confidence, and your physical self too!
The biggest motivator is seeing results fast! I have lost 16 lbs, 15 inches, and 6% body fat. This course has been the best investment for my life that I have ever made. It's a lot easier to keep up with my three kids now. Your body is God's temple, and I plan to make it the best I can.”

“When I started, I weighed 207 pounds and could only do about 7 regular pushups, 22 sit ups, and a 2-mile run in 22 minutes 46 seconds. After only 3 sessions, I am down to 193 pounds and up to 124 pushups, 78 sit ups and the 2-mile run in 18 minutes 27 seconds. My waist size has gone down from a 36” to a 34” and I even fit into some 33s now.
My energy level and aerobic fitness has gone through the roof thanks to the high-energy workouts in each class. People around me have seen the difference it has made, and now my wife and friends are attending as well. Since consistency is the key to physical results, belonging to a group workout is one of the best ways to see big changes in your life.”

“I began Boot Camp Fitness to lose weight, and have been incredibly successful, but also found myself getting more fit than I ever expected. The results are fast and continuous by staying committed to improvement and participation (which is easy when 30-40 people are all working at it together!). I'm now in better shape than I have been in 20 years (that was high school football). I have lost over 50 lbs, and decreased my 2-mile run by 10 minutes. Boot Camp Fitness is great!”

“I am turning 40 in June and want to lose 40 pounds before the big day. I have not run in five years and not worked out in seven months due to medical problems. I signed up for the Boot Camp Fitness thinking that it would be a fun way to work out, get me moving in conjunction with Weight Watchers to reach my goal.
Boot Camp Fitness is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but I love it! I tell everyone I see about how great it is and the success I have had. I have completed ten sessions and have lost 14 inches, 6 pounds of body fat, and 5 pounds on the scale. I feel great and have already signed up for the next session!”

“I started attending Boot Camp Fitness classes in June and have not missed a session since. I want you to know the phenomenal impact these classes have had not only on my body but my spiritual, emotional, and psychological being. The discipline it takes to perform the rigorous exercises and to continue attending these classes have spilled over into all areas of my life.
Since I have started attending these classes, I have lowered my total cholesterol level from 210 (200 and over is considered a high risk) to 176! My resting pulse is now below 60 beats per minute. I have more energy, am physically stronger, feel great, and am sleeping so much better (I have suffered from irregular sleeping patterns all of my life).
I love attending these classes not only because of the physical benefits I have reached but also because of the good, Christian, and safe atmosphere which is always maintained. Feeling safe in an exercise environment is very important to me.
I know I am not the only person who feels this way – so many have shared their successes in Boot Camp and how it has affected them in all areas of their lives; such as making good dietary choices, setting boundaries in their relationships with others, marriages, and relationships with their children. Boot Camp Fitness is truly a blessing!”

“I came out last night for the PT test in spite of being under the weather for the last two weeks. I didn’t expect much since I’ve been slack this session. I’ve been attending Boot camp exactly a year, and on my first PT test I did 27 pushups (half were on my knees) and 40 sit ups (some were crunches).
Last night, I managed to squeeze in 73 pushups (only 5 on the knees) and 86 sit ups (all full) in two minutes – a personal best! I still need to knock off a minute on the two-mile for the black shirt. I’m sure I can do it.

“Session 1: Started at 7 p.m. Looked at watch at 7:30 after 40 bazillion pushups and considered slipping away never to return again. Decided that would be too embarrassing, so I stuck it out. Morning After Session 1: Air is getting into places deep inside my lungs that have not felt breath for 25 years. Session 2: Muscles still sore. Breathing well, though. People kept encouraging me to stay with it and that things would get easier. Came in pain, stayed on faith. Session 3: Now it's a challenge and I refuse to back away. Most everyone is working on their "6-packs"...I'm working on my "keg"! Session 4: Who would have thought that running would be the "easy" part? Seriously...the in-cadence jogging around the parking lot was the time I used to catch my breath. I'm a volleyball player, too, and it was fun to cruise by the courts with our group chants while the volleyball players looked on in awe. Session 5: It is a lot more fun now. My muscles are aching...but a good sort of ache...desiring to be tested some more. It feels good to exercise. Session 6: Leg cramps are starting to annoy me. Can't run fast. Running anyway at a reasonably comfortable pace. Determined to stay with it. Session 7: Stretching and flexibility much better. Legs still cramping some. Nice, easy pace on 1 mile run and felt pretty good. Thought I had a "kick" for the last 200 yards until cramp reminded me otherwise.
At this point, I have lost 5 pounds and one hole on my belt. I look forward to each new session now. Sign me up for the next round! Thanks for the challenge.

“This class was the most motivational program I have attended. It was completely unconventional...never the same workout. What I enjoyed the most was that different levels of physical fitness all enjoyed the small, great workout. Everyone sets goals for themselves on the first day...Jay and his staff help you get there by challenging and motivating you. I noticed eating the right foods gave me more energy for the workouts and I quickly started losing weight, my workouts quickly became more productive. The better I felt the more I looked forward to the next class. Jay is always positive...and extremely motivational. Also, you get to know others that share the same goals. You pull and encourage others in the class. It quickly builds teamwork.

I want you both to be aware of the appreciation I have for Boot Camp Fitness. I’ve had high cholesterol as a function of heredity all my life. A year ago, after I turned 50, a doctor told me I needed to start using Lipator, the anti-cholesterol drug. Knowing the negative affects on the liver and having had an uncle just die from liver failure, I went to another doctor to get an opinion on exercising first. He agreed, and I began Boot Camp Fitness last July at IBC.
I just completed my lab tests as part of an annual physical. Everything is in “spec”...blood pressure, everything. Even my cholesterol, which, for years had been out of bounds, is within normal parameters.
Needless to say, I’m a major fan of the program. Thanks for helping make real change happen!

“I started boot camp on October 27, 2003. I have gone down three pant/dress sizes and lost over 26 pounds. Boot camp is the BEST thing I have ever done in my entire life. I always exercised and walked, but I have never experienced exercise like this before. I feel like I am a new person, and I am so addicted to boot camp. I cannot imagine not having it in my life now. Jay and Lin are the MOST AMAZING couple I have ever had the privilege of knowing. They are an awesome witness and example of what a true Christ follower should be. Having them constantly encourage you to keep going makes you know that it is your body and your mind. Therefore, it is your choice on how you want to look and feel. Anyone can do this program. You want to see results, join boot camp. I promise it works! You do not lose weight over night, but as of this past January, I had to buy an entire new wardrobe. I want to thank Jay and Lin for changing my life and showing me how to keep going no matter what. You cannot give up on yourself. Jay and Lin will not let you. Thank you so much for helping me change my life. I know I am in control of my exercise now.”

In July of 2002, Lisa brought home the diet plan you had designed and given to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. I told her in support I would go on it with her. I had not been on a "diet" in many years and thought what the heck. We went off to the grocery store and got the various items as required.
Within one week of starting, I really began to feel better. The first month I lost about 10 pounds which that itself seemed to be a miracle to me. By the end of September, I had gone down one whole dress size.
I found that I could incorporate the various food items and even work it where I could go out to lunch or dinner. My breakfast was always oatmeal. Lunch was chicken or fish and a vegetable or salad; same with dinner. I was able to have popcorn, pasta, etc. with no problem. By November 2002 I had lost 25 pounds. As I continued through the holiday season, I stayed on track and followed lots of ideas on your web page.
By November 2003, I had lost 46 lbs and went from size 18 to size 10. The first part of this year, I began a exercise program that includes lots of aerobics. I exercise every day but Sunday. At present, I have lost 58 lbs and my dress size is now a 4. The exercise is what finally got me where I am.
Following a good eating and exercise program and realizing that life doesn't revolve around food has helped me in so many ways. During this two-year adventure, I have changed jobs. I was worried that getting out of a "routine" would set me back into my old habits, but it made me work even harder.
Thank you for your friendship with Lisa and for the support you have given me.

First off, I really enjoy your class, it is a throwback to my military days, which I have fond memories of. I enlisted in 1984, out of high school in Houston, went to boot camp in Fort Knox, KY (19D – Cav Scout), and was sent overseas to Germany to guard Pershing missiles and eventually the East/West German border. My final unit was the 2nd Armored Cavalry Division in Bamberg, Ger. I served for two years, and then did a year in the National Guard in Houston.
I was very fortunate to serve at a time when world politics were uneventful (compared to today’s standards). Not a day goes by that I don’t think about our troops overseas, they are guys just like me who volunteered looking for adventure (and probably some college money).
The other night, I mentioned to you about my memories of my drill instructors when I was in basic. I don’t know if I just got lucky or what, but they were like these characters who were bigger than life. I mean, they were all CIB, Air Assault, jump school – you name it. One of my drills was a Puerto Rican named DeJesus who openly challenged anyone from day one to out run him, out push-up him, anything – nobody ever took him up on it. Another guy – Sgt. Doss – entered those “ tough guy ” contests where they throw 20 guys in a ring and the last guy standing won. I mean these guys LIVED it. The fact that I remember their names (after 20 years) and have such fond memories shows you how much respect I had (and have) for them. I am sure you were the same way with your guys.
Anyway, to the purpose of my email – I did 61 push-ups, 57 sit ups, and the 2-mile run was 15:30. I am setting a personal goal of maxing the test by the end of the 4-week course – it seems a little ambitious, but I think I can do it. The hardest part will be the run – I need to beat 13:36 to score 100 (I’m 38 yrs old). Ha – this is fun…

The boot camp has been a God send for me. I am on my way to getting into better shape than I have been for 15-20 years. Also – I have a good positive affirmation quote for you that goes well with anything requiring discipline. "There are two types of pain in the world, the pain of discipline or the pain of regret" Not sure who the author is but this is one of those quotes that stuck in my mind. Thanks for everything!

When I started Boot Camp almost two years ago on a very cold January morning, I thought I was in pretty good shape, but was looking for an exercise plan I could stick with. The first class showed me several things.
First, I was not nearly in as good a shape as I thought I was or needed to be. Second, this is an incredible group of people who truly care and want you to improve "to save your life". It was hard, but I stuck with it, initially so my sister-in-law would not think I was a wimp. The more I came the better I felt – and I really did get stronger! But the improved fitness was not what really kept me coming back. It was something I totally did not expect when I started – the improved relationship with God. What I quickly discovered was how very powerful it was to work your body until you could give no more and look up and see a magnificent cross, backlit by a beautiful sunrise. Whenever things were particularly tough, either physically or emotionally, it was so comforting to look up and see the face of Jesus in the lovely stained glass and realize that no matter how much you were hurting, or how often you fell, He would always be there to pick you up. Pretty soon I was not coming for the physical health – but rather the spiritual boost. There is just no better way to start the day than to be so physically spent that you forget the earthy burdens you came with and stand together at dawn, hand in hand, heads bowed, lifting the joys and concerns of your “team” and praising the Lord for your many blessings.
