Getting Back Into an Active Lifestyle

blog_getting_activeOn Friday I will have completed my first boot camp session.  My workout buddy and I were thinking back to Day 1 and had a good laugh.  It was raining, we didn’t really know where to go, it was the earliest we’d been up in years, and we had the fear of the unknown workout but were assuming the worst.

My buddy and I were active but like most, it got more difficult after college to keep up with it.  Desk jobs led to “office butt” and motivation to hit the gym after work just wasn’t there.

Being alive and able bodied is a gift that I’ve squandered.  But, I will be 30 in October and I made a promise to myself to not be lazy anymore.  I am young and should be enjoying life by being active.

I’ve seen my results get better with each session.  Day 1, my buddy and I had to take several walking breaks during our run and were high fiving each other that we just survived. We finished dead last.  Now, I find myself calling up the energy to run the entire time and finish in the middle of the pack.  My overall muscle endurance has improved though I still have a long way to go.

Jay and the trainers ask us after each workout, “Did you get something from that?”  ABSOLUTELY!  He’s right, if you didn’t get something from the workout  - it’s your fault.

I’ve even inspired my coworkers when I shared AJ’s e-mail with the workout details.  I haven’t sold them on signing up yet, but they’ve all made commitments to exercise in their own way.  My parents have even joined a gym at 60 and 65 years old.

So thank you for providing a program that inspires and pushes people like me to get up off their lazy tails and move it!  I’ve signed up for another session and look forward to another 4 weeks of early alarms, sore muscles, and pushing myself past the limit.
